We recently conducted detailed factory audits at three cast iron foundry manufacturers in Haryana and Karnataka, India. This initiative was carried out as part of the Foundry Audit and Advisory (FAA) service offered by Kimura Foundry India (KFI), based in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The objective of this program is to objectively and rigorously evaluate the manufacturing capacity, safety, and quality control systems of Indian foundries. By identifying key areas for further quality improvement, the program serves as a foundation for introducing reliable, high-performing suppliers to casting buyers seeking trustworthy partners.
Audit Overview and Next Steps
The recent audits were conducted by a Japanese foundry expert holding a Ph.D. Spent an entire day at each facility, the auditor performed a meticulous assessment based on a comprehensive 20-item evaluation standard.
・Safety & Quality Control (QC): Verifying the actual implementation of safety protocols and robust quality control practices on the shop floor.
・Operations & Kaizen: Evaluating day-to-day manufacturing processes, end-to-end traceability, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives.
By directly inspecting the manufacturing floor, KFI accurately assessed each foundry’s compliance with technical requirements and quality standards.
Based on the audit results, KFI will roll out the following initiatives for both the audited foundries and buyer companies:
・Targeted Quality Improvement Consulting
Based on the audit scores, we will clearly map out each company’s strengths and areas for improvement, delivering practical technical guidance and actionable advice to drive quality enhancements.
・Matchmaking for Casting Buyers
Foundries that meet strict audit standards will be recommended to Japanese and
international clients looking to procure castings in India, facilitating the creation of reliable, long-term business partnerships.
Through the Foundry Audit and Advisory (FAA) service, KFI remains committed to elevating local technical capabilities and helping international enterprises build high-quality, resilient supply chains in India.
